NEW
YORK, NY: August 23, 2009 - Small Bone Innovations, Inc.
(SBi), a single-source provider of innovation, products, technology
and education for the small bone & joint sector, is sponsoring
a comprehensive workshop in the use of circulator fixation
technology on August 29th at the Indianapolis Marriott Hotel
.
Currently, more than 30 podiatric surgeons have registered
for this one-day intensive training course. Essentials of
Circular Fixation is intended to teach circular fixation techniques
utilizing the SBi RingFIX tm system for the treatment of various
foot and ankle indications. Topics and Labs include: Biomechanics,
Safe Zones, Charcot Foot, Triple Arthrodesis, Ankle Fusion,
Ankle Distraction Arthroplasty, and management of patients.
SBi plans to host continuing educational programs throughout
the country to enable podiatric foot and ankle surgeons to
use RingFIX tm and the RingFIX tm RAD technologies for the
preservation of diabetic patients’ lower limbs and other
conditions that require the maintenance of the ankle joint
and range of motion for the post-traumatic ankle arthritis
patient.
This SBi sponsored program will be led by two of the nation’s
leading exponents of circular fixation: Guido LaPorta, DPM,
FACFAS, the Chief of Foot & Ankle Surgery and Director
of Podiatric Medical Education at the Scranton, PA Community
Medical Center; and Gary La Bianco, DPM, of the Foot &
Ankle Institute of Ohio at Dayton.
“As the aging population grows, podiatric surgeons are
seeing significant increases in patients with late stage arthritis
and an alarming surge in diabetics with severe foot ulceration
and bone disease. Use of the latest circular fixation devices
is one of the most effective methods of preventing chronic
conditions and preserving limb function,” Dr. LaPorta
said.
Anthony G. Viscogliosi, Chairman & CEO of SBi, commented:
“Drs. LaPorta and LaBianco are among the most respected
and innovative lower limb specialists in the U.S. This event
will make an extremely valuable contribution to the continuing
education of podiatric foot and ankle surgeons with the mission
of bringing life-changing technology to many thousands of
patients suffering from advanced diabetic foot pathology,
and late stage arthritis in the ankle joint.”
“Our sponsorship of the event reflects SBi’s value
creation thesis of being data-driven, surgeon-centric and
patient focused in addressing the unmet clinical needs of
foot & ankle surgeons,” he added.
