The
SBi rHead™ Recon prosthesis is an anatomic design with an
element of alignment flexibility. The prosthesis is available in
multiple sizes that accommodate the anthropomorphic variations in
radial head size. The concave articular surface of the radial head
component is designed to anatomically articulate with the convexity
of the capitellum. The radial stem is curved to match the intramedullary
contour of the proximal radius and can be used with or without cement.
The head and stem components are coupled together using a “ball
and socket” mechanism and are modular to accommodate patient
anatomy. The rotational flexibility of this articular design allows
correction of angular alignment deformities of up to 10° and
allows for radiocapitellar contact through a functional range of
flexion and forearm rotation for a spectrum of clinical presentations.
The rHead™ matches the normal proximal radioulnar joint articulation,
preserves the annular ligament, and minimizes release for exposure
of the important lateral ulnar collateral ligament.
